What Nano can log

31 loggable events

Message deletes, edits and bulk purges. Joins, leaves, bans, unbans, kicks, timeouts, nickname and role changes. Channel, thread and role create/delete/update. Voice join, leave, move and mute. Server, emoji and invite changes.

A channel per event, not one firehose

Every event carries its own target channel. Send message deletes to #message-log, bans to #mod-log and voice activity to a staff channel, instead of dumping everything into one unreadable feed.

A colour per event

Each event type has its own embed colour, so a deletion and a role change are distinguishable at a glance while scrolling. Defaults to Nano's silver.

Moderation and AutoMod included

Manual mod actions and AutoMod actions are loggable event types in their own right, so the audit trail covers what your staff did and what the bot did automatically.

Why server staff turn it on

  • Answer 'who deleted that channel?' Discord's own audit log is shallow and expires. A logged channel delete keeps the actor, the target and the timestamp in a channel you control, for as long as you keep the messages.
  • See edited messages, not just deleted ones. Message edits are a separate event from deletes, so a member quietly rewriting a message after the fact is visible rather than silent.
  • Everything is off until you turn it on. Every event defaults to disabled with no channel set. Nothing starts posting the moment you invite the bot, and you enable only the events you actually want to read.
  • Keep staff-only events away from members. Because routing is per event, sensitive events can go to a private channel while harmless ones stay public. There is no single log channel to compromise.

Is logging free?+
Yes, entirely. Logging is not a premium module and there is no cap on how many event types you enable. All 31 are available on the free tier.
What events can Nano log?+
31 of them, in 6 groups: members, messages, channels and roles, voice, server and invites, and moderation. That covers deletes, edits, bulk deletes, joins, leaves, bans, unbans, kicks, timeouts, nickname and role changes, channel and thread changes, role changes, voice movement, server and emoji updates, invites, and both manual and AutoMod actions.
Can different events go to different channels?+
Yes, and this is the part most bots do not do. Each event type stores its own channel, so message deletes and ban actions can land in separate places rather than one combined feed.
Can I log deleted messages?+
Yes. Message delete is its own event type, and bulk deletes are a separate one so a purge does not flood the same channel. ⚠️ Discord only tells bots about deletions it witnesses while online, so a message deleted during downtime cannot be recovered by any bot.
Does this replace Discord's built-in audit log?+
It complements it. Discord’s audit log is limited in what it records and how far back it goes. Nano posts the events into your own channels, where they stay as long as you keep them and anyone with access can search them.
Will it post anything before I configure it?+
No. Every event starts disabled with no channel set, so logging is silent until you switch on the events you want.
