Welcome messages

Post a full embed or plain text in the channel you choose. 7 placeholders fill themselves in, including {user} to mention the member and {memberCount} for a running total.

Auto-roles on join

Give arriving members their starting roles with no moderator action. 10 roles on the free tier, 25 on premium.

Farewell announcements

Announce leaves in their own channel, separate from joins, or leave them switched off entirely. Off by default.

Welcome images · premium

A generated banner with the member's avatar on your own background. Avatar shape, overlay text, text colour and accent colour are all yours to set.

Ways teams use it

  • A public post and a private DM. The channel message and the welcome DM are configured separately, so you can run either on its own or both together. A DM is useful for rules a new member should read before they start posting.
  • Keep the bots out. Put a verification gate in front of the server. Button verification is free; CAPTCHA verification is a premium mode and is the one that stops automated account joins. Verified members can be given up to 5 roles on premium, 1 on the free tier.
  • Send joins and leaves to different places. Route arrivals to your public welcome channel and departures to a staff-only channel, so the main chat stays readable and moderators still see the churn.
  • Write it once, personalise every time. Available placeholders: {user}, {username}, {displayName}, {server}, {memberCount}, {guildId}, {userId}. They work in the channel message and in the DM.

Are welcome images free?+
No. Generated welcome images are a premium feature. The parts most servers actually need are free: the welcome message, the welcome DM, auto-roles on join and farewell announcements.
What is free and what needs premium?+
Free: welcome messages, welcome DMs, 10 auto-roles, farewell announcements and button verification. Premium: generated welcome images, CAPTCHA verification, and 25 auto-roles.
What can I put in a welcome message?+
An embed or plain text, plus 7 placeholders that fill themselves in: {user}, {username}, {displayName}, {server}, {memberCount}, {guildId}, {userId}. The same set works in the welcome DM.
Can I welcome people by DM instead of in a channel?+
Yes. The DM and the channel message are separate settings, so you can use either alone or both. Discord blocks DMs from servers a member has disabled them for, so a channel message is the reliable one.
How do I stop bot accounts joining?+
Turn on verification. Button verification is free and stops drive-by joins. CAPTCHA verification is a premium mode and is the one aimed at automated account joins.
How much of the welcome image can I change?+
Your own background image, the avatar shape, overlay text, the text colour and the accent colour. The member’s avatar and name are drawn in automatically. Premium only.
Can leave announcements go somewhere else?+
Yes. Farewells have their own channel setting and their own on/off switch, and they are off until you turn them on.
