Translate
Read every message, in any language.
Nano is a free Discord translate bot. /translate puts text into your server's language or any other, and a right-click translates a message into your own language, privately.
How translation works
- 01Translate with /translate
Into your server's language, unless you choose another. The reply is posted for everyone.
- 02Right-click any message
Apps, then Translate, shows a message in your own Discord language.
- 03Detects the language
Leave the source empty and Nano works out which language the text is in.
- 04A list of languages
Type a name or a code, such as French or fr, and pick it from the list.
- 05Codes are checked
A word that is not a language code is refused, with examples of codes that work.
english is not a language code Nano can translate. Use a code such as fr, es or ja, or pick a language from the list. Why members use it
- 01Private when you right-click
Only you see the translation, and the channel stays as it was.
- 02Each member in their own language
Two members can read the same message in two different languages.
- 03A daily allowance per server
2,000 characters a day free, 10,000 with Premium. It resets at midnight UTC.
- 04Up to 500 characters at a time
Longer text is refused before anything is counted.
- 05Failures cost nothing
A translation that fails does not count against the day's allowance.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I translate messages in Discord?
- Add Nano to your server. Type /translate with your text, and Nano replies with the translation in your server's language. To read a message someone else sent, right-click it, open Apps, and choose Translate.
- Is the translate bot free?
- Yes. Every server can translate 2,000 characters a day for free, and 10,000 with Premium. The allowance resets at midnight UTC.
- Who can see the translation?
- A /translate reply is posted in the channel, so everyone there can read it. The right-click Translate is private: only the member who asked sees it.
- Which language does the right-click Translate use?
- The language you use Discord in, so each member reads a message in their own language. If Nano cannot translate into it, the translation is in your server's language, and the reply says so.
- How do I choose the languages?
- Leave the languages empty and Nano detects the language of the text and translates it into your server's language. To choose, start typing a language's name or code, such as French or fr, and pick it from the list. A code with a region, such as pt-BR, works too.
- How long can a translation be?
- Up to 500 characters at a time. A longer message is refused, and the reply gives its length.
- What happens when the server reaches its daily limit?
- Nano tells the member that today's allowance is used and that it resets at midnight UTC. On a free server, the reply also gives the Premium allowance. A translation that fails is not counted.
